The Half of It

The Half of It

A Poem by JewelsGold
"

A lighter way with play on words to describe the painful affairs of the heart

"

you could say I'm torn in two

I'm half of unity

but I feel wholly still complete

because ALL OF ME is free

But when I went all in for thee

my cards upon the table

it was risk well worth the kiss

and that whole-heartedly

The thought of losing LOVE

never crossed MY MIND

these starry eyes so BLUE SO true

FOR YOU MY LOVE IS blind

It was a time

when love was mine

when hope behaved in kind

I didn't know

At half time show

I’d lose what was to find

Life's long lesson

steadily approaching

I didn't see

the fear in thee

somberly encroaching

All at once

I'm torn in two

I'm rendered into pieces

It’s a wonder how

In life and love

Wonder never ceases

Heart's elation

too far removed

to think or breathe or move

I'd hold my breath

unto the last

and pay the cost to choose

then live on

wondrin' what's wrong

and how our time was lost

If youth is wasted on the young

then love is wasted on the cost

upon the brave, the passionate

the loyal ones who grew

love is wasted on the ones

who never even knew

up into the cold dark world

no longer children playing

this became a game of life

where death I welcomed staying

my heart could hold onto no more

nothing more to there beat for

love had come then turned me out

laid waste and was no more

Or was it just insidious

testing of the spirit

when we united once again

and then lived on to hear it

never quite restored to bliss

but still fully immersed

painfully as cupid's arrow

lodged within conversed (rehearsed)

every step excrutiating

but no more out of breath

until this day

where half of love

is all that is quite left

took up its bravest quest

is still alive and kicking

the other half has had enough

and heart is all but ticking

through battles truly tough

there’s certain evolution

spiritual warfare

testing for solution

towards needing nothing fair

and half of me is glad

since the other half is free

i just dont give a damn

and sometimes I'm just me

If my better half is gone

If life has got me down

I love to carry on

I simply pause to think

Love is not relationships

Love is being one with glee

And heart shaped chains and whips

and love is far more powerful

than lovers will ever be

so if half of me is all that's left

than half is all i need

I've done wonders with far less

still full of generosity

I'll never lose myself in whole

no, not entirely

to love again for anyone

because truth has set me free.

And its true that truth be told

true love lives excitedly

inside memories and the morrow

and right now in our present state

there's victory over sorrow

right now there's still half a cup

of wicked good survival.

That's not half bad

and more than enough

to generate revival.

Takes at least both to continually be aware and to work at keeping the 'heat' in a relationship. And no it is not just sex, it IS the gamut - the full gamut - of action, awareness, thought, and Being that people express, the sharing, the doing - just because you want to ...not have to.
