Deep Within the Forest

Deep Within the Forest

A Poem by Jillian Alexis

Butterflies long to be freed,

their vibrant colors taunting thee

as she lay upon a sea of wild flowers

grown from the richest of hues,

she is permeated with scents of love and loss,

her skin slowly dipped in a fiery sun's caress

Her Full crimson lips move in tune,

to this beautiful sweet surrender

as she drives her slender fingers into the dirt,

to feel this earth's constant hurt

"i shall die with you" she whispers

The bond between people and the environment is strong and undeniable-- indeed.

What a beautifully tragic expression.. speaking of freedom and colors so alive.. yet the loss.. the overwhelming loss that drives her to seek death... Richly painted in the darkest hues..
