Silhouette on the Wall

Silhouette on the Wall

A Poem by Audrey Bruckner
"

Wrote this quickly for a friend, the first draft had to be a bit PG, then I revised it to reflect my own feelings and views, and I'm not sure it translated well. So I am still workshopping the ending.

"

I stood and for the first time felt naked.

Of your hands that hung me,
a silhouette on the wall,

and broke my back
like a jealous lover.

My unshakable voice

               shook.

The things you feared kept you away
were mine to keep
and we died by them,

like spiders.

The webs I tangled
were your fingers

              and were enemies

and left me afraid to try.

I spit the venom I sipped,

looked you in the eye...

F**k
You
