Not My Thoughts

Not My Thoughts

A Poem by da_great
"

When in anxiety breakdown, is it really our thoughts or from a devil?

"
As I count so slowly...
One... two... three...
It can't help but trigger
The paranoia inside of me
As I count so random...
Eighteen, nineteen, twenty!
I'm helpless but remember
The anxieties inside of me

Tik, tak, tik, tak...
Says the disturbing jingle
Of my clock
Then shadows lurk that mingle
With my mind running amok
Then everything seems
Fast forward...
As if my soul can't be redeemed
And I let an ear splitting
SCREAM!!!...

Suddenly everything
Comes to a halt
Sounds and decorations of warning
Dilapidated mind's at fault
And as a single bat of eye
As if not my thoughts anymore
A whisper from a shadow...
"Blade or building? Choose your score."

Sometimes it can feel like our thoughts and emotions overwhelm us to the point where we can't think straight and we feel stuck

I have a lot of thoughts at this point because of stress and life. I love this poem though it's very extraordinary and I can relate to a lot of my thoughts aren't even my own thoughts they are other people's thoughts that I think of.

This became very emotional for me to read because some of the stuff in this poem reminds me of a few months ago I was scared and didn't know how to get away so now what happened to me haunts my dreams nightmares and the guy haunts my life because he told me not to speak of it, but I spoke of it a few weeks ago. I love that this poem is something I can very much connect with and have a story for this poem to be very phenomenal for me to read. The guy is a devil

Thank you so much
Anxiety attacks are no picnic. Thank you for sharing your vision and entering!
Thankfully haven't had one in a few years! The last line is a clincher.

I have never had an anxiety attack, but I used to work with people who experienced them. This work captures very graphically the feeling of helplessness within a runaway mind. It's a place no one wants to be.
