To Love?

To Love?

A Poem by da_great
"

How can you describe "LOVE"?

"
To love?
I didn't quite understand this being
All I know, it's just a sweet little thing

To Love?
Like a mother cradled her child
Oh so gentle she poked the cheek
The child jolted giving a sweet smile
She grasped the moment her angel's 'till meek

To Love?
Like a father and son on a walk
And the clouds seems envy to there closeness
It doesn't matter if he's really soaked
Letting the umbrella to his son's tenderness

To Love?
Like an elderly couple on their last summer
Seems to know the secret of forever
Accepting their flaws of each other
And unconditionally embraced it together

To Love?
Like a mother's gentleness
Or like the father's sacrifices
Or even the unconditional love of the elderlies
A thing hidden in your heart's consciousness

So to love?
I now quite understand this being
And I know, it's really a sweet little thing

Several interesting takes here on the meaning of love. Interestingly, none of them are of the romantic variety, which is far and away the most represented type on this site. All that are mentioned here are of the type of love that gives, rather than takes, that supports, rather than demands something. I think we know that this kind of love is better, but still we get involved in the "Can't live without you, baby/ You done me wrong, you SOB." Well, life is above all a learning experience. Well done.
