Here I Lie

Here I Lie

A Poem by Joel Moore

the wind so cold
and home so far
the light
flickered as i fell

far i have walked
here i will lie
none will know
what i have done
how hard i have fought
how far i have come

snow covers my face
the cold is creeping in

my life leaves with each breath
the snow stained red
i weep for things i will never see
my wife
my son
my daughter to be

a hero

i die alone

Author's Note

Joel Moore
I was reading the Poetic Eddas and i tried to capture what it would like for a viking traveling home after a battle. Not sure how well i did though. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
