The light that went missing: Chapter 1

This is the introduction to a short story I'm going to write..

Since birth, she was dealt a world of cruelty and confusion.  Locked up in chains was her heart, tainted with pain and haunting memories.  She was destined to a life with no purpose and no reason to belong.  A misfit; a child left cold in the dark.  Every light she touched would soon blacken into an abyss of horror.  She was alone and felt her only reason for being was for others to feed off of her weakness.  Hungry for love and starving for affection, she never knew the right words to say, just so she could fit in.  Everytime her heart skipped a beat, it destroyed her even more.  Holding on by just a thread, she traded her last beat for something unimaginable.
