A Walk Down the Beach

A Walk Down the Beach

A Poem by Josh Matteo
"

Just spontaneous poetry, because I took a hiatus.

"

I walk alone down the narrow strip that lies adjacent to the beach

Feeling the sand and salt whip my already dry face

And observe the scenes that lay before me:

An old couple conjoining their wrinkled hands in an ageless embrace,

A small sprouted flower lying in an isolated patch of grass

Where a tiny humming bird courts its yellow lover amongst the green,

A small toddler nuzzling himself against his mother’s hip

As she gently caresses his head and holds him close.

And all of a sudden a thought occurs,

“I wish you were here.”

Ok, was the imagery appropriate? Should I add more?

Aww, this poem does have an excellent imagery. I'm going to the beach soon, and every line is how I feel when walking down the beach. The very last line is a thought I'll have a lot, wishing my boyfriend there with me. You done an amazing job with the imagery and flow. :)
