if you were to look long enough into my eyes
you could probably see frayed images of her
                                              burnt deeply into my retina's

ages were spent looking at her purest form
sleeping softly within my tender gaze

                                             years have past, many years

and still I wake up reaching for her
the memories nor the hope will
                                                            relinquish me

they drag me through the deepest
                                                  and darkest of emotions

my heart still quickens with hers
my mind still picks up on her thoughts

it's true, soul mates are forever
in one way or the other

It's a masterpiece. You brought pain through your words, you really locked a piece of yourself into this! That's what I've always liked about your poetry I think, you don't just make something that sounds nice or has relevance.. you paint your soul out a bit in each little line. It's been a while since I've reviewed anything of yours and I have to say you've developed even further as a writer! I am honestly and sincerely impressed with this piece Joshua, it's going into my favourites.

Joshua,
To watch you evolve from there to here... this piece plumbs the depths as do most of yours, but to see you pull from the place of light rather than dredge the darker parts of you... well that is really an interesting transformation to witness. When you wrote about your near-death moment I believe I said I wondered how you would now change. Well here it is. Nice to see young man. (That I call you that - it just pops out, so I leave it)

Oh good stuff!
the first line was a great opener for the poem. I really adore your choice of words in this, and the picture you used. (I love that movie, it makes a great photo for your poem)
this is romantic, intense and has a very good flow to it; the second stanza couplet will have to be my favourite. Its very soft sounding, but beautiful.
well done!
