Ode to the Reader

This is for the reader--

For those who relax in quiet dens,

Who contemplate in busy coffee shops,

Who take fanciful meanderings while

Sitting in the park.

 

For those who gather information and

Soak it up like a sponge,

Through magazines, newspapers and

Encyclopedias.

For those whose hands breathe as they turn

The page.

 

For all dreamers! 

For all those who cast themselves adrift

Upon the seas of imagination

Within the tested hulls of their favorite tomes.

 

This lyric is here to greet those who have

Just met Jack Dempsey,

Or those who insist that Sasquatch truly

Roams the Pacific Northwest.

 

Be ever curious O intrepid reader,

As you explore the vast seas of imagination--

Always dangerous, never secure,

Always the gamble in the air!
