Chapter 67

Chapter 67

A Chapter by Jemma Packman

Charlie washing her face in the sink. Robbie stands behind her and says "Can I talk to you?"
Charlie stands up and says "I don't think we have anything to talk about."
Robbie says "We do. Please, Charlie?"
Charlie turns to face Robbie and says "Fine."
Robbie says "I've missed you."
Charlie says "That it?"
Robbie says "Are you still angry with me?"
Charlie says "No. I'm tired and you're stopping me from seeing my baby brother."
Robbie says "Do you remember the last time we were in here?"
Charlie says "Yes, and I remember why we were in the hospital. Do you?"
Robbie says "I do and I am sorry about how I treated you."
Charlie says "I'm over it. Is this really what you wanted to talk about?"
Robbie says "No. I wanted to be sure that I was over you."
Charlie says "Over me? You were over me before we got together."
Robbie says "I did love you."
Charlie says "I don't have time for this. Get to the point or get out of my way."
Robbie says "I want to ask Yvette to marry me."
Charlie says "And?"
Robbie says "And you don't have a problem with that?"
Charlie says "Why would I? You deserve to be happy. If she makes you happy then I'm glad for you."
Robbie says "Really? That's all you have to say?"
Charlie says "What do you want me to say? No, don't, I still love you, take me back? Or you hurt me, you should never be happy, you should suffer and die alone?"
Robbie says "No. I didn't..."
Charlie says "Leigh. It was Leigh's idea."
Robbie says "Sort of. How did you know?"
Charlie says "When have you ever worried about what I thought?"
Robbie says "Never wanted you to think I was bad in bed. But you don't have anyone to compare me to, or didn't."
Charlie says "You weren't my first. Not even my second. I was a cute kid."
Robbie says "I wasn't? Who was?"
Charlie says "None of your business."
Robbie says "You still are, you know."
Charlie says "Still what?"
Robbie says "A cute kid." Robbie brushes one of Charlie's cheek and kisses the other. "Thank you."
Leigh says "Thank you for what?"
Robbie says "Nothing you're freaking out about."
Leigh says "What would I be freaking out about?"
Robbie says "Please. Me alone with Charlie. What wouldn't you be freaking out about?"
Charlie says "There's nothing to freak out about. Robbie was just following your advice."
Leigh says "My advice?"
Charlie says "About Yvette."
Leigh says "And you're ok with it?"
Charlie says "I have no reason not to be."
Leigh says "I'm sorry."
Robbie says "I wouldn't trust me either."
Leigh says "You don't have a good history."
Charlie says "I'm going to see if I'm allowed back in the room and let you two talk."
Charlie leaves. Robbie says "Do we need to talk?"
Leigh says "Did you try messing with her head?"
Robbie says "Why would I do that?"
