Hollow Men

Hollow Men

A Poem by jrPaperheart
"

Maybe some of you can relate to this.

"
Hollow men, the lot of them

Can easily be submerged in the treacherous waters of best friends

But I know otherwise - how they breathe, how they pretend

And capsize the naive, starry eyed vessels sailing far across the ocean

Just oxygen is in their lungs and chemically they feed the flame

That stays ablaze under the moonlight when I'm screaming out your name

Hollow men, they howl ; hollow out the l
and from which you came

& like a termite they will eat your skin, soul, and salvation all the same.

                                Hollow men

Hollow like I was and all I used to be

A hollow man until you took me in and showed again that I am nothing

Nevermore! you cut me deeply

Nevermore! & I hold the thread

You've made me whole, you sliced my soul right open wide - & sliced again

& I'll stitch

Memories of our darkest dreams and the sounds of every siren

The fire that was quarantined inside of both your eyelids

Has spread to the bedside beneath the bed sheets that I so faithfully reside in

& as the smoke rises I realize that I have no time left to borrow

& as you read, the chapters breathe, and tell of how I became so hollow.

That is a very intense piece of art my friend! Bravo. Very clever, very vivid. It sank deep into my heart.
