The Great Orange War of 2020

The Great Orange War of 2020

A Story by Jon Roggie

From the beginning,
I would disagree with the title.
Sounds a bit fluffed.
Trying to create more worry.

Not that there was no worry.
Oranges were flying back and forth.
I think we both almost hit the other's mum.
That would have been dasterdly.

I blame the quarantine.
Cooped up for at least a day,
 and what could you expect?

It took an ugly turn when the REM album started.

Orange juice everywhere.

Flags waved.
Hands shaken.
Reparations were two slices of cheesecake exchanged for a promise to pick up the cat poo.

An uneasy peace,
as I watch a cat walk across the yard.

We need the orange juice. I am a night-manager of a CVS in Michigan. Vitamin C, B12 selling like it is gold. The old world is gone now. Young kids buying vitamins and concern for our world. I prefer a flesh orange, but the orange world is here my friend. Thank you Jon for sharing the amazing poetry.
