Gather my masks

Gather my masks

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Another day,
and for me,
no different than most.

Choose a face to match the day.

Try and make it pleasant.

   and I stop

   break

  pause

  breath

Which face should it be today?

There are masks and masks Jon. What's it to be? The real you or someone you would like people to think you are? On the other hand with Covid many are wearing masks. My granddaughter is sporting some very fetching brightly coloured face coverings at the moment. Hope all is good in your world.

Thank you.
Society has created so many faces to choose from, reminds of that saying about being yourself as everyone else is taken :)

I envy the animal world, for there seems to be no judgment of facial expressions, or lack of.

Agreed....
This reminds me of a tv show from my childhood called Worzel Gummidge, where John Pertwee played a scarecrow that came alive when no one was around and had different heads he could wear, Happy, scary etc.
We all so get usedto the face in the mirror that we sometimes forget it's what other people see too.
And no matter how many times I put on my happy head, its usually morphed into my "leave me alone" head by lunch time 😀
