Which story will it be?

Which story will it be?

A Story by Jon Roggie

After dinner has always been storytime.
  Sunlight sinking,
   matching weary eyelids

Gather together,
 knowing siblings,
and elders will need a hand  to bed.

Some words are recalled,
 comfortable,
but now,
  and maybe once again,
there might be a tale a touch new.

Both might share a song,
 smiling at each other.
laughing at a tune so true.

While we wait,
 letting the embers grow dim,
  decide on a story,
    one of young grown old,
or perhaps a step back.

I've read bedtime stories but can not remember back to a time when I listened to one.

The hardest part is keeping the teller awake!
Memories of infinite adventures and possibilities of story time blows tv out the water for the eager audience I once was. Relishing tales of a secret world I wasn't in during the time it played out, but brought back to life in living colour of our imaginations.
I always liked the embellishments on each re-telling. Most likely embellished, but not to this eager viewer, whose boundless optimism just accepted it into the narration as a now remembered gem, long forgotten.
Now I am remembering times when tv's had an off switch... Sigh 😀
