You never tell them the story

Tala always says it,

 and I can't disagree.

Easier to repeat their tales,

  those shared by their trails.

Rough around the collars,

 but the old man has a nose.

   and something gentle.

Always shares a story with eyes shaded.

I love the natural ferl of your thoughts wandering along the page, to shy to look up at who is reading them.

I had to think about this for a bit.
Tala is an odd fellow, and I don't always understand him. You never see his eyes, and I hadn't realized that. Your eyes drift away. Something to ponder.
