Gift Wrapper

A Poem by Julianne

I exchanged my brown paper

For bright colors and patterned draper.

Switched my twine

For a newer, more expensive design.

Tie myself together

With ribboned lace and merry weather.

Top myself off with a pretty bow

And watch my confidence grow.

Now all the roosters flock

To see what’s in the shiny box.

But, whatever, was wrong with before

When no-one was at my door?

Are my contents not the same

As before I made my exchange?

This is how I partly feel whenever I get fixed up.
Maybe, its not that at all...maybe they're just dogs..and maybe it looks to them like we're open for business??? .........

The first third of life gets spent seeking notice - the second third is trying to continue being noticed. The last third is wondering what to do now...
