Nicely penned, John, with plenty of food for thought. Yes, I could probably go without meat too. Actually, I only eat fish and poultry. We were initially designed to be vegetarians anyway, but I'd miss Thanksgiving dinner without turkey.

It is a shame, the way you describe it here, John. As much as I love to cook, I would be just as happy with a meatloaf! It's all about the dessert for me - as long as there's pumpkin pie, I'm a happy camper!

Too bad they get eaten
However I saw a program on "TV" about commercially raised turkeys ( and no doubt foul in general) and it was very upsetting
We buy all that type of thing now from responsible producers
All except for pumpkin pie which we will eat no matter how they have been raised' ssppppeeeeccccciiiiiaaaaallllllyyyyyy with whip cream

There simply MUST be a dallop of whip cream or cool whip sitting atop that pie. It's a house rule at my dinner table! : )
