Sipping Soup

Sipping Soup

A Poem by john l smith
"

Twinkling stars

"

Sipping Soup

I wonder why stars twinkle

Possibly it’s my sight

Because I blink so often

That half of day is night

My eyelids flicking up and down

Is really quite a problem

Cause when I try and sip my soup

My spoon is always wobblin

Some goes in my eye

And some gets up my nose

No matter how I try

That’s how the story goes

Tho, when I write a poem

It’s much less of a crime

Cause when it’s an awful write

I only notice half the time

Hello Dave. You really must concentrate on your soup and stop worrying about why the stars twinkle. That way you can be sure your soup gets in your mouth and not your up your nose. What flavour was it? Broccoli and Stilton is my favourite, make it myself. I like the humour here.

I like how it is funny and sad at the same time. There is a nice sense of optimism though that engulfs this poem. Thank you for sharing.

You've just jumped over the moon when it comes to creativity. Who else could combine this hodge-podge of ideas & craft it into a logical-sounding poem? I've always loved your sense of writing adventure, but this one feels like you might've gone too far into the jungle *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie

Jittery eyelids--that's what I got after seeing Aunt Bertha bend over to feed the cat while wearing no underwear. (I made that up.) I know it's a problem, but please don't give up soup. (One of my sisters swore off corn on the cob because the bursting kernels splattered up onto her glasses)

I have yet to come across an awful write from you btw, and I doubt if I will ;)
If only one could have soup without spilling and write poems alongside too...!
Cool write, this one.
