Humpty

Humpty

A Poem by john l smith
"

escape

"

Humpty

Last time Humpty escaped over a wall

He’d had a nasty fall

This time he used his head

And went through the gate instead

King's men were waiting just outside

Escape was being denied

He was destined for the pan

To be either scrambled or be fried

But he rolled down to the seashore

And floated far away

And to make sure he’d stay unrecognized

Turned himself into a seaweed souffle
