A Poem by J.V. Stanley
"

Everyone I know was having a bad day. Got a call from about 8 people today, each having an issue of their own. Add that to my own, and being a sounding board. This prose was the product of today.

All you need to do is just breathe

Relax and breathe,

Feel the inhale the breath of air,

the dry and the humid,

the taste and just breathe and exhale…

Don’t hold your breath, the night is gone,

shuffled off this mournful song,

in its rest the one will appear

Faltering tonight what was severed and seared,

In everything that falls, in everything that shines,

will deliver the conqueror and will relinquish in kind

for when darkness that wraps itself upon your dreams,

and misery does hold the world it seems

and shining down a flicker of light,

piercing through the clouds on the warm and sultry night

…and free as a bird this light once flew,

like a thread fallen upon this saddening gloom,

Golden thread falling beneath the canopy of dreams

finds within it soul, and coddles it, it seems

And when upon what happens next

Could be anyone else’s foolish guess

for when hope arrives-nothing is met,

and thinks of things undiscovered yet,

so thus it ventures on in that will find

a way back to what was promised in kind

For in darkness one shall never reach

Destination that lies upon the highest peaks

And  thus my woeful transgressions lie,

behind me within that mournful sky

I reach the green at heaven’s door

Quickens my heart at its very core

And so thus it matters not proclaim

And visions of grandeur set so plain

And yet its folly feats and fumbled fame

And yet so tired of this foolish game

Let me rest weary now within my grave,

let me save one last one the same.

Author's Note

J.V. Stanley
Stream of thought writing on this one. I touched up on a few rough areas, but otherwise this was my free write for tonight. Needed a release-thought it about time to purge the demons since it'd been so long since last I posted.

the way this just goes is outright in depth...the moment takes the reader --- you feel the lines and even the rhyme scheme is quite planted in there...made for a remission --- let it all out within the confines of this write...

Although it is just a touch convoluted, this has a wonderful rhythm to it, especially towards the end. Bad days are bound to rear their ugly heads in every life. The worst things can run through our minds like a dam that's broke and out of control.

There's a lot here to take in but I enjoyed the way you put it together. Nice writing.
