Great Barrington

A Poem by serpentine
"

An ex boyfriend of mine decided he would try and make me hate myself recently. This was me taking back the control I had lost.

"
For a few days
I experienced something new,
and my hindsight wasn't tainted
by the ghost of you,
and instead of focusing
on how naive I'd been,
my wheels started turning
and I could create again.

And here you are, as promised,
to put my mind back in its cage
where you can poke and prod
and keep my words off of the page,
and though it's not exactly
the kind of death you screamed about,
I'll cut your place in my memory
to finally bleed you out.

Remember all the times you said
I couldn't live without your touch?
I'm more alive than ever,
but nothing you said meant much.
