Prologue

Chrishalyn gasped for her breath as she carried more than a ton of brick on her back. Tears stung her eyes as yellow flames engulf her body.  Tears stung her eyes as Ricky lay up in front of her hugging Max as tight as he can. She gave him a weak smile before Mary comes running to them. Her beautiful face was stained with tears dirt and sweat. The building was collapsing. That much was sure but the only thing separating the Picas family and certain death was Chrishalyn.

“Go!” warned Chrishalyn.

“What about you?” Mary asked, her voice choking, knowing that they were mere minutes away from certain death.

“I’ll make it out alive, promise.”  Chrishalyn smiled as Ricky and the rest scurry off.

The block became heavier and as Chrishalyn’s vision faded and her power decreasing she regretted one thing before sudden darkness engulfed her

“I should really stop lying,”

Ricky and the others watched as what remained of the building collapsed and the remnants of the orange barrier was no longer seen. It was the end of Chrishalyn. His heart tightened as tears roll down his cheeks. He had lost a servant willing to sacrifice her life for his family. The person who loved the family, admittedly, more than he did has just been crushed by tons of stones.

A sudden flare of yellow flames bursted but no living body came. Everyone followed that flare for it stood like a ray of hope. Frantically with his beaten up hands Max carried rock after rock for him just to see Chrishalyn’s body. The air was tense and nothing but sorrow-filled hope remained. Everyone tried digging up what was left of the great Picas Family’s base. But her body never came. No Chrishalyn anywhere.

Mary started breaking down by then. Why? I’m supposed to be strong. She thought as her frail pale dirty fingers grip the large mound of cement and gravel. As she pushed that away a small object came to view: a ripped of piece of cloth that held crest of the Picas Family. There was only one thing that came to her mind:

A rival family

At that very moment sadness turned to hatred and anger.

Nobody wanted this!
