Shard of Broken Glass

Shard of Broken Glass

A Poem by Clara Kevie

No one else sees me; they look right beyond
or step on or squish me, then expect apology
for now there are footsteps of blood on the lawn
How dare such an inconvenience be caused by me
I can't breathe, but can't let her see
There's a war going on inside of me

She asks if I'm okay and I don't give a straight answer
I'm tired, just empty, not feeling quite alright...
There's nothing she can do. For what's inside her,
then what's inside me, it's distorted without right light
I'll try to act okay, she sees right through this act;
I'm as transparent as a shard of broken glass
