Pull Your Feet From the Mud

Pull Your Feet From the Mud

A Poem by Kathy Van Kurin
"

Life and its secret strengths released

"

Pull Your Feet From the Mud

Same old tune, new rhythm, yours and mine.

Let our hearts beat for this life beat.

Hum, hum, hum- Thrum, thrum, thrum;

rise, fall, within new season’s ebb and flow.

Wide awareness, new born permission-

so quiet, so submissive; but no more.

Looking for a heart link, I’ve left the ground.

My heart cries; “wait for me!

Can we sit face to face and simply be?

Feel me? I feel you. Your colors entice.

I cry for every infatuation.

Seat’s edge is a pushing prodding pain.

One jump will be my last step, just for now.

Possession I release. What do I want?

Sometimes my cautious heart has run away.

Fear is a warning. I know better.

Let it mend, inner pain bullet holes are healing.

Step back, step back.

Lesson upon lesson I want to learn

within new opportunities to become balanced.

This school of hard testing

 is embraced, and then released.

Pull my feet from the mud.

This was an exhilarating read, Kathy! The repeated words throughout this poem really gave life to the idea of you writing to talk to yourself, or someone else, about matters of the heart.

"Can we sit face to face and simply be?
Feel me? I feel you. Your colors entice." Loved this line. Tyfs!!!

Faith itself is a mighty tester.
We hear nothing except bad things in the world.
Nothing ever good is on the news.
But today someone will walk out a hospital alive. Maybe life-saving surgery, maybe just cosmetic, but important to them. There's a hell of a lot of good going on out there. We maybe just take it for granted sometimes.

I hope writing this poem helped you find new strength! This is an unusual way to write an inspirational poem, which I love for its originality. Instead of a smooth flow, this felt like floating along turbulent waters, which is such a surprising way to "show instead of tell"! Your thoughts & expressions felt like they were going all over the place, which is how it really does feel when we are walking on wobbly legs. I love the quality of being UNINHIBITED as you jot down each exact sensation with minimal editing. The title line is well used, top & bottom! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Questions lead to understanding. Understanding leads to a perception of truth. Truth leads to strength.
Strength gives you the opportunity to look back at the questions.
