Good Friday

Good Friday

A Poem by Kathy Van Kurin

Good Friday,

You are laced in shadows and light,

 And I ponder.

The clouds above push along and share breezes

- Prodding, brisk about.

Towhee, red wing and sparrow, echo then repeat

 -In beauteous harmonies Tender.

Shadow and lace sun mosaics dance.

Spread courtyard surface as if fine bisque.

This setting, this page- to pour my thoughts

Because Jesus the Christ is no stranger

In human shell given from our Father, Emmanuel

-Is now shared to give meaning.

Jesus’ Death, to bring life;

if people will listen to your voice.

Good Friday, your true message

God is good for all who will hear.

Messiah, you came to save every lost soul.

You’ll not leave even one little lamb crying.

For your mission is seeking and saving unloved children,

 -Covered, in shadows weight.

Do we know of your love, bright shining?

Easter is a time to reflect; to sit quietly still in contemplation! Your words and emotional delivery from the heart reminds us all of selfish sacrifice. 'Do we know of your love, bright shining?' - you ask ... we certainly did by Easter Monday ... bless :-)

Kathy,
Your beautiful poem speaks of Hope. Christ's commitment to share His Love and Gift of Heavenly Eternity are hard to put into words. We made Good Friday a violent bloody sacrifice. The Father turned into an act of compassion and forgiveness.
Your words remind us to be vigilant to the message of Jesus Christ's act of unconditional Love. Without Good Friday there is only darkness.
Blessings,
Richie b.

Good write and some suggestions.

I would change shadows to hidden or covered mysteries. In God there is no shadow or wavering (James 1:17). God is hidden in his thinking and purposes (Isaiah 55:8-9) which we are too limited to fully understand.

Easter is the message: Christ is Life, if we accept his death cleans our sins and obey his commands (the Way and Truth), he will resurrect us to life in perfection filled with his Spirit. Christ saves many but not those who refuse to heed his call.

Joy, peace and blessings.

God's tablet of creation, is one of His best medium for the presentation of His Son, the Lord of creation. What essence of His love He has for us; displayed eternally, visible yet hidden, clear enough for little children yet beyond the grasp of too sinful men. Precious and few, it seems, those reminders that are ever with us and go unnoticed.
