Night Light

Night Light

A Poem by Kathy Van Kurin
"

I live in God's Fir Tree Forest Garden. All around standing at attention are the Douglas Firs. They are all ready beautiful but when the moon comes out to play...Look out! I know we can all identify.

"

Night Light

Sometimes, with the arrival of night, sleep will not come.

All is anticipation, waiting and watching.

Like a great and beautiful paper lantern glowing in obsidian night.

For it, this soul longs and waits.

I find comfort in gentle glowing presence of warm peace.

Luna arches through the sweet velvet heavens and leaves her blessed reflection.

I revel in long stretching luminous projection against my own backyard.

 It is metamorphosis.

Nothing is left but wonders, to gaze transfixed, wide eyed at beautiful night magic. Where are the angels? Do they wonder at my joy?

How does it feel to observe a mortal being, in awe? I am in awe every time.

Over and over, a renewed experience.

These eyes rejoice!

Late and later, sleepy eyed but still I search and quest.

Every corner and tree top spire is new glossy covering.

So like a little child, wanting to stay, not missing a so special treat. ?

I am so thirsty!  Can I have another drink of moonlight?

The canopy above releases glow upon glow in refined perfection’s projection.

Late night streamers unite in silvery silhouette; a black light show!

Where did the time go, fleeting heart-beats ticking?

My inner soul sees through physical vision phenomenon.

Clockwork moonlight comes and will again.

Again glory’s night light will hold me in close caress.

We will meet gazing face to face.

Bathe me in your moon light.

This heart will await your glowing signal.

Bright night candle.

I have a poem not yet posted here where I say Sth like drinking and bathing in moonlight for I'm a fervent lunar lover so I found your version ESP entrancing as my senses delve and indulge into your night magic poetry. You muse eloquently my poetic friend, I hope to read from your ink a lifetime. Kudos.
And warm greetings.
You may read my newest, my poetry is lucid though, as English is not my mother tongue, yet there are those who say I write good for an easterner with English as a second language so I go on spurred by that.

It may be the expanse, the beauty, the mystery or the incredible longing that makes us gaze skyward thinking of all that is and may be possible. You took every one of these and folded it into a beautiful narrative that left me wanting to stare at the sky and wonder what can be. Great piece!

This expression of your moon thoughts seems flawless. I don't doubt that most of us have been there before. It's such a fascinating thing, looking up at the moon. So many thoughts pass through my head. I am in awe of its very presence.
A wonderful write.

am down trodden
I am a moonchild & I’ve written tons of moon poems, but this is the best one I’ve read! Your descriptions are brilliant & dancing & unique & so graphic! “I revel in long stretching luminous projection” – I’ve watched this a million times & never thought to include it in a poem. Your style of observing things is popping with originality! “How does it feel to observe a mortal being in awe?” Another stroke of genius! Perspective is everything in writing & you toss & turn thru a variety that is stunning. “I am so thirsty! Can I have another drink of moonlight?” – This might be my favorite moon poem line of all time. This is just too much. I might never get the courage to write another moon poem after this stroke of pure luminescence! (JUST KIDDING! Can I stop a freight train?) Fondly, Margie

lovely write. I love the full blood moon rising out of the ocean. Too often light pollution obscures the starry host but knowing a smattering of astronomy they are fascinating and the photos from telescopes expose their beauty.

Nothing like moonlight on a still night. I've seen the full moon as big as a dinner plate out on the prairie where you could count the craters on its surface. It's magical and kind of frightening the first time. I enjoyed the read. Enchanting.
