A Letter to an Old Heartache

A Letter to an Old Heartache

A Poem by MaxiMyMutt

Dear Sister,

I hope you recall the good times,
The ones only best friends share,
Like lighting candles in your closet,
And whispering so your mom wouldn't hear.

You had your problems,
And I had mine,
So we took turns with our venting,
Switching off at the right time.

I remember you helping me,
As I went through the worst of times,
You were always patient yet frustrated,
But remained forgiving and kind.

We had our theories,
We had our thoughts,
And in the end,
We figured out a lot.

I realized the other day,
That even after our time together,
I feel like in some areas,
You're still a stranger.

The sad part is simple as this,
We didn't have an argument,
With a dramatic scene,
We just stopped.

We lost touch quickly,
And I still don't know why,
Was it the lack of effort?
Or the loss of time?

I see pictures of you,
Or even see you with your friends,
And even if I don't show it,
It hurts to no end.

I miss having those nights,
Where we would find strange things to do,
I know I miss my distant sister,
And I hope she misses me, too.
