Polished

Polished

A Poem by katnisscat

Polished:
I watch
Horribly helpless
He sifts in his seat, mortified
Yet his cheeks show no blush
His ears no tinge of red
Instead he picks off
The black polish on his nails
He new it wasn't a good idea
As he took the brush and began
But just once
He wanted to be
Himself
And look where that got you
He thinks as
As teachers ramble
As students snore
But ringing in his ears
He hears loud
Loud and clear
The snickers
The words
God, the words
F****t
Ugly
Emo
The lump stayed all day
There in his throat
Dry like a ball of bread
Impossible to swallow
Close his eyes
Steady his breathing
Hide his hands
I watch
Horribly helpless
Because I liked it
More than that
I like raven hair
Deep eyes
Pale lips
Slender fingers
With dark polish

That was a cool poem. I love the last few lines. It is a nice twist to a well plotted poem. I loved it!
