Hollow

Hollow

A Poem by Kayla

I'm hollow.

I'm a tree whose bark was stripped

That once held our initials.

I've been carved and ripped

Into hand-made gifts

That someone else will treasure.

The truly sad thing is

The destruction has been a pleasure.

I've watched your strength

Cut me down into tiny shreds.

I've watched your cleverness

Shimmy out of everything you said.

I admire everything your hands create.

I just wish it were something

That circulates blood.

Maybe then, I'd sing.
