A Poem by Kayla

I'm solemnly sitting

In my cage,

Slowly growing

Old with age.

You won't hold me.

I'm never chosen

To be in those large hands;

I'm frozen,

Shivering with anxiety.

I'd rather stay here

Than be put in a ball

To explore

Outside these caged walls.

But in staying,

I'm miserable.

Can't you just be gentle?

I know I'm not cute as

Other small pets are;

Therefore, I'm passed,

Never given a chance

To prove to you

That I'm better.

Come play with me.

I won't bite.

I'll nuzzle close.

Just stay, despite

The others in the store.

I'm the one that's yours.

Just hold me.

beautiful idea. sad but interesting.
many people dont treat there pets fairly.and some other people treat others just like that hamster just because they dont look that good.

It is men who are hamsters sweetheart. Always need looking after, fed, given something to drink and lots of attention - and once they have that they no longer need you, at least until it is that time again. Oh gosh, that sounds cycnical and bitter - I really do not mean it that way - nor am I such a person.
Your poem is quite loving, well, cute - but I do not like to use such a word! It is innocent and gives the reader a reason to love you - and wish you much happiness wherever you can find it.

Wow, nice description, and well written, I like how you used the point of view of a hamster.
