My Finale Goodbye

My Finale Goodbye

A Poem by Kacie Delane Davis

It wasn’t supposed to end this way.

This was meant to be my happy ending.

But not all dreams come true.

Not all caterpillars turn into butterflies.

Not all flowers bloom into things of beauty.

Yet everything is eventual.

Here I lie.

Each breath feels forced

And draws me one second closer to my last

I anticipate my last.

An end to this pain.

I thought pills would work faster.

A knife.

That’s what I need.

One wrist,

Two.

I watch the blood flow and I know

This is my last note.

My finale goodbye

Goodnight.

"I watch the blood flow and I know" was a sentence I liked in the last paragraph. Neat poem you've got here.
