Rock to a Child.

Rock to a Child.

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A look through the eyes of an innocent.

"
Clear running water,
A mountain my home,
My life century long,
My owner a gnome.

A rock to a child,
Peaceful and blue,
Rough to a point,
A pebble to you.

I really like this, Thomas. It seems very much about perception and how it differs from childhood to being an adult. A pebble would be a pebble in an adults hand, wouldn't it? To a child, a huge and heavy rock. I very much like this analogy. Nicely written, my friend.

life seems so forever when we're kids; not equipped to understand that it ends. I went back to the house I spent my early childhood in and was amazed how small it really was. It seems almost castle like in my memories.

Great piece, wanted it to go on, " but all good things must..."

I don't know why but, it made me smile. It was short, sweet, and to the point in the most wonderful way comparing one thing to another. Well done.

Interesting, very original, i loved the 3 points of view you were able to give us in such a short poem (that's talent, man !!): The rock's (Stanza 1), the Child's (verses 5-7), and our's, where we stand for boring grown ups adults xD (verse 8)

Hmm, simple yet strikes me ever so sweet. its really quite nice. I like how you made the perception for a child compared to someone older.

I love the way you put it together, such small, usually meaningless words, creating such a powerful picture.
