The Kiss.

The Kiss.

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A look at the way we communicate through touch.

"
Fantastic, sweet, shy and plump,
Ravishing, kind, swept and deep,
A kiss might but just a kiss,
But this was mine to keep.

Wet, thrilling, exotic and dazzling,
Foreign, common, away and home,
His smile was reckless yet divine,
Like the Christened Chapel in Rome.

Angry, violent, pale and weak,
Pulsing, dead, racing and stopped,
His star was piercing and tame,
So much so my heart just popped.

Amazing description in this poem. You made the kiss seem something worthwhile and wonderful. The words were strong. Thank you for the outstanding poem.

The theme is conveyed via suggestive phrases and figurative compilations of adjectives, which are devices I enjoy when well derived. You shape the thought process to bring home the content in a rhythmic array. So very poetic.

TOTALLY. I am learning more and more and touch is the most neglected thing in this world, and the energies/possibilities/revelations therein - not all sunshine and rosy, but real, gritty, amazing, lucid and visceral - these are some of the most transcendent aspects of existence. Just to be near a man ... to learn his mysteries from kissing him.

I love this. The impressions are so vivid.

The notion of touch, to me of course, is one of the most fundamental needs, and I believe tis on Maslow's hierarchy as being as elemental as food, water, safety, etc.
I really like your descriptions, Thomas...the kiss....oh how delicious!!! Last two lines in the second stanza are smashing.
