The End

The End

A Poem by Krista Gallant

Intense heat and pressure from moments past

Toughening my heart slowly over time lapse

Ribbon like layers continued to rise and multiply

Structuring shielding rampart of sturdy marble miles high

Longstanding walls erected over a desolate solitude era

Particles of sediment are now disintegrating the strata

Breaching the safety and comfort of lonely confinement

Staging  evidence of sorrow and loneliness ailments

Deserted like a lone wolf abandoned from her pack

Left to fend on my own with no ordinance or pact

Lacking in affection and searching the warmth of respect

Amongst an arctic climate of glacial thoughts and neglect

Death so very close to the surface, vigorously lurking

Leaning head against the ground as my soul begins to sting

Unable to contain the pain that was buried deep inside

Powerless to express in words with no one to confide

The cold sharp metal carving deep into my tender wrists

Ominous feelings start to blur and my breath slowly desists

Drops of salty water escaping my eyes as soft whimpers flee

The pain of isolation finally gone from this lifeless lithe body
