Septembers Tears

Septembers Tears

A Poem by Kenny L. Mitchell

“September’s Tears”

(A 911 Remembrance)

I cast a weary eye

Towards a blemished shoreline

Recounting the beauty of history

The solace of yesterday’s pain

Comes at a heavy price

That is unequalled upon the wrack

Heroes are not those seeking

The immortality of their actions

But those who simply act…

Without hesitation

What jagged tears eclipse

The beautiful moment of simplicity

When for a brief second

We fulfill the promise of nobility

No TERROR beyond these shores

Can sublimate our constant courage

Nor diminish the beauty of our souls

Let not the sacrifices of others

Or the screams of naysayer’s

Allow the tears of yesterday

To detract the promise of tomorrow

The sequential tears of September

Only water the lovely seeds

That were paid with a high price

And after our winter’s discontent

Shall spring forth with new life

And a bountiful blessing of love

The fruits of which

Will feed our prosperity

With the sweet ambrosia

Of freedom

Yet another tribute to 9/11

A powerful write on an event that shocked the world and bought pain and suffering to millions. The effect this had on the world is truelly tramatic. It is something that will never be forgotten.

You expressed it well through out the poem. The pain and sacrifice. The true meaning of hero. What a brilliant write. Well done.

I read this the other night but had to get offline before i could say to you what a wonderful
poem this is. What horror we all felt that day.

You write with eloquence, heart and soul.
This is one of best poems i have read written about that fateful day.

That you dedicated this to the brave souls who gave their all makes the poem even more
soulful.
For they truly were and are heroes.

Fine tribute, Kenny.

An enduring remembrance and sound stance for the future.

"Heroes are not those seeking/The immortality of their actions/But those who simply act/Without hesitation"

Those lines especially grab me because they speak to an infinite number of situations, from the mortally dangerous, to the quietly spiritual.

Good work!

Kenny, you are a master word weaver my friend, and the image is the empathy pure.
Leaves the reader with an enlightened perspective on the events, and remebers those who
lost loives in all phases, grand heartfelt work, a pleasure to read.

A great tribute...

Americans must never forget and remain vigil, so those who died did not so in vain.

I love the title!
