"Divine Revelation"

"Divine Revelation"

A Poem by Kenny L. Mitchell

“Divine Revelation”

In a time of simplicity

Where an impatient sun

Kisses the lethargic moon

She waits for me

On the cusp of dreams

An angel like no other

Her wings spread

In full resplendent regalia

Once upon a pale memory

I have dreamt of you

The desperate longing

Of something far richer & enticing

The breathless stars shine

Far more dazzling and complete

In awe of your fervent touch

Each distant sun infinitely closer

As you take my hand in yours

I feel the completion of my soul

The loneliness of yesterday

Is a far distant memory

As we dance beneath pale moonlight

I feel that the presence of divinity

The sheer and utter satisfaction

That comes only once in a lifetime

Stay with me for all time

The uncertainty of yesterday

And the beauty of tomorrow

Are only a simple kiss away

BEAUTIFUL. You painted a picture of romance with your words. I haven't been in love for many years, but you brought the memories back to me in this piece. My favorite line was in the very beginning:

Where an impatient sun
Kisses the lethargic moon (ONE OF THOSE two liners I wish I had written! It's very unique and I love hearing that in poetry.)
