A Poem by knightcall

forgive me
i don't want to be understood
i can't figure out this world
without all the pieces
and i keep throwing my chips upon the table
expecting another card to play

maybe we should have
concentrated on tomorrow
the next hand
before throwing forever into the mix
my ring has been collecting tarnish
the emerald has grown cloudy

maybe i could figure it out
if you would deal to me
wonder envelopes me
feeds me to the sharks
it's hard to say what
i see in this shallow water

i used to hear the sound of your wave in
every shell i'd find in the beach
summer closes and makes the sand hard
i walk along and watch the water
i look behind and watch my steps

A remarkable stanza, how true this is, how true in deed
