Lucky

Lucky

A Poem by Komichi
"

I want everybody to know that there are positive sides behind the negative events. If a series of negative events haunts you, just believe that you can always bring the fact up to the other side.

"

            He’s been to Rome once.

They say the land is always happy and sunny,

it only rains for 2 days a year but

            unlike the movie, “Roman Holiday”

it was pouring the whole time

exactly for 2 days during his stay

A fat woman barked at him

            about who got there first

in a line to the casher register.

She was furious as a mad cow,

beside a mountain of groceries in the cart.

He just happened to appear before her.

A red sports car almost hit him.

The driver was a young blonde girl.

She cursed at him for a typical disposition.

Suddenly, two witnesses started fighting her

for being such a dumb brat.

He unintentionally started a mini riot

by standing there at the traffic light.

Why do these things happen to him

at a perfect moment in an extreme sudden?

I know why they come to him

because they are drawn to him magnetically

as insects buzz around a light bulb at night.

The instinct in their heart sees only his light.

I like this poem a lot and you've captured much of Rome that's true.

Great description of a Europe that's lost it's cultural way.

'A fat woman barked at him' This line is very simple but works perfectly. I love the image it provokes of some dirty European supermarket. It's fantastic.

I adore this piece. The feelings are strong and the movement through the poem is steady and powerful... Wonderful job!!
