Carnival of Guilty Pleasures

Carnival of Guilty Pleasures

A Poem by Kristin Lee
"

What's the price for gulty pleasures?

"

Magnificent Darkling’s

Come one, come all!

To the one, the only

Unending fall!

You know you crave

That darkness within

Step right up!

Step right up!

Sin is in.

Just one chance

Is all you need

One tilt around the whirl

The Master promises no regrets

But beware the clowns

Their malicious frowns

Won’t stop till you bleed.

This carnival of guilty pleasures

Is brought to you by

Hells darkest dreams

Though, dreams or not

I must confess,

Beware, of the

Bearded Lady’s forked tongued kiss;

She’s really a dragon in disguise.

And the fire in her breath

Burns hot enough to

Vaporize your eyes.

If you made it this far

Then you never stopped to ask

The most important question.

But time’s run out and it’s too late,

We’re past the point of no return;

Face the facts my Darkling,

We both know, your heart is black

As night.   You’d never turn

Back, even if you could.

Magnificent Darkling’s

The time has come!

The Master will now reap

what you owe.

The price for admission

To this deviously delicious

Carnival of sin?

It’s miniscule

A trinket

A trifle really.

The cost dear Darkling

To the Carnival of Guilty Pleasures,

Is nothing less

Than your soul!

Magnificent Darkling’s

Come one, come all!

Let us join The Master

In Hells unending fall!

Dark, dark write. It felt a little humerous too but mostly dark and foreboding and now I won't sleep tonight you horrid girl! lol
Suggestion for two lines of this stanza:
Beware the bearded lady’s
Forked tongue kiss;
She’s really a dragon in disguise.
And the fire in her breath
Burns hot enough to
Vaporize your eyes.

Thanks Criss :)
How how dark a web you weave my friend. The carnys are on the prowl, the chilled night wind does howl, there is no time like now, let the side show begin...very creepy my friend.

Ohh...I hate clowns (have ever since I was a child), but I am absolutely fascinated by carnivals; everything from the lifestyle to the people. I found this to be exactly what I expect the average carnival to be beneath the surface. lol Well done!

Kristin "Mephistophe" Lee, your darkness demands a ticket to ride. Great use of classic and cultural references to illustrate the price of giving into guilty pleasures.

A dark, foreboding write, filled with your creativity. This was a piece worthy of showcasing... I thought the style was unique and intriguing. Definitely one of my favorites that I have read of yours so far. I love reading poems, stories, etc. that are different from the usual. This is exactly what this poem gave me. Well done Kristin!

Wouldn't it be fascinating??? Oh the things you would see.
That's why I try to be a good girl! Ha! Except when I go on cussing sprees in the WC! I thought this was a fun read, until I looked closer. Then I put my blinders back on..
