Happy Delirium

Happy Delirium

A Poem by Kristin Lee
"

What truly lies within the heart

"

Trapped in this bright and shiny dome

Perpetually swimming up stream

Through countless rungs of plastic posers

Their sharp stares slice right to the quick.

There is no rest for the wicked in this war

Sleep is a novelty long denied

So daydreams are where we hide

Stolen moments of happy delirium

Free from the castigations

Society has carved into our flesh

Avoiding the false prophesies

The plastic posers deem absolute truth

Their bold lies foretelling false sins

Of the worlds wicked and uncouth.

As heavy lids laced with tiny blue veins

Flutter their way to happiness

I have to wonder…

Are we really wicked?

Or are we posers too?

Let that be our greatest secret

And the way we’ll win this war

For only these stolen moments of happy delirium

Will ever know, what truly lies at our core.

wonderful poem Kristen...I don't even know ME yet and I doubt I ever will...I always cringe when couples say..."we have no secrets"........Even an open door can conceal a cobweb or two

Great lines Kristin. Sometimes I catch myself angry or unhappy and thinking one thing and even wonder just what the heck I think I am doing. Ignorance can truly be bliss!

Happy delirium....a befitting title to a thought provoking poem. And an interesting conclusion ''for only these stolen moments of happy delirium/ will ever know, what truly lies at our core.''
A very expressive and beautifully written piece!!!!

A very personalised perspective, which I appreciate, and how you express your inner feelings, and I interpret, 'winning a war' as winning a battle with the external world, as opposed to any real conflict. I feel that this was written as if one was one was on safe and considerate territory.

Thought provoking write, and wonderfully penned. I had to read the line "Their bold lies foretelling false sins" a multiple times to come to a meaning of it since it was so profound. Normally I would indicate my favorite line or lines but i'd just re-posting the whole poem here in this box. Great stuff.

I wonder if you ever really know someone. I have things in me that noone knows, not even my husband.

As heavy lids laced with tiny blue veins
Flutter their way to happiness

These lines are so descriptive. I can see those lids, Kristin! Angi~
