Unspoken

Unspoken

A Poem by Kristin Lee

Disembodied words

Tangled in the neck of a naked bottle

Poised to combust under this unending pressure

Created by emotions denied their release

They yearn to escape their murky cage

Toiling in the poisonous depths below

Burning hotter than Vesuvius

Yet they remain colder than dry ice

They are alphabet magma

Waiting to explode

Shake them up

Rattle their cage

But you’d better be brave

If you dare try to make sense of chaos

Make sure to cover your ears

For the explosion that will sound

When disembodied words find their way from underground

Will obliterate the lid from this fortress of solitude

And the words that have dinned on my soul

Will be unleashed upon an innocent world

And venomous viper’s intent to devour all flesh

Will show no mercy

As they’ve shown no mercy to me

And there’ll be no-one to blame but you

Some words are better left unspoken.

Wow. Your words have so much power for they go deeper and deeper in the unspoken languages of hurt and pain where the soul is in anguish and innocent stages . Words are power and sharper than swords indeed...Thank you for sharing this great poem with us...:)

Thanks Sami. Words indeed to hold so much power. We should use them wisely.

So true...You are welcome...:)
As they say, "The pen is mightier than the sword"...and I think that is true in a lot of ways. Words cut more deeply, and they stay with us longer. At least when you get sliced with a razor blade or break a bone, the body has a natural endorphin response, but when it comes to words, we have no protection. Great concept to write about.

"Some words are better left unsaid"--this is where things get tricky, because how do you know when it is something that begs saying vs. something that can be swept under the rug?

Overall, i really enjoyed this piece. Well done!

Amen. I like the form of this piece, and I love the message. Words have the power to build, or destroy. Well done.

Thanks Rita. It's so important to temper our words. They are truly mightier than any sword.
