Why do you paint pictures?

Why do you paint pictures?

A Poem by kris reed

"

Why do you paint pictures?

Why do you write words?

The clouds are moving in the evening,

The wind carving in the morn.

Why do you construct buildings?

Why do you erect monuments in stone?

The cottonwood’s leaves are shedding,

The mountains growing on.

The river brings showers,

The dam stops your blood.

The fawn begs your laughter,

The screen steals your love.

The prairie spirits are dying,

The dollar cackles on.

Run from your stickwood houses,

Wildness isn’t your lawn.

Leave the lighted gadgets,

Fire is your heart and hearth.

Security is not your larder,

Nature’s the place to start.
