Goodbye/Farewell

Goodbye/Farewell

A Poem by Kristina
"

Written about my girlfriends brother who just died Nov 22, 2008, of cancer.

"

As we gather together in remembrance of you
Our hearts are, no doubt broken in two.
No words or thoughts can mend the break,
My heart feels as I carry this weight.
Knowing that only God can lighten this load,
Makes it easier to travel this winding road.
You’re at peace, no pain, or sorrow or grief,
Helps me at night when I try to sleep.
Your voice and laughter can’t be taken from me,
Because your spirit lives inside of me.
As we all say farewell, this isn’t the end
One sweet day I will see you again.

Your voice and laughter can't be taken from me,
Because your spirit lives inside of me.
Nicely done.

God and peace are the words that stand out for me...the one gives hope and the other comforts us as we think about the pain and suffering of life.

Wow this is so well written and touching. You have captured the sadness yet acceptance of loss, and the gift of having had this person in your life. An excellent write.

Your voice and laughter can't be taken from me,
Because your spirit lives inside of me.

These two lines are so true as long as we have our memories the ones gone will all ways live on in our hearts.

great work.

I'm sorry for your loss. I really like this piece. Very very emotional and so raw. This poem makes me think a lot about how much love truly matters to us now. Also, I caught myself thinking of the famous line, "You don't know what you've got til it's gone." Thanks for the read!
