Can I sit and write a simple tune or will I sit and summon spiders
Will a wayward ear latch on to paper thoughts or is a muse just a glorified insider like an undercover officer pretending to befriend maybe even smart enough to damn the doings and defend the doer trapped beneath the wet blanket of a habit feeling for a crease to isolate with prick and stab it
Should I settle for the role of shepherd of this ivory prairie self-indulgent dozen-dimer sworn protector of sublime geography No, the dew-flossed webs of my attire hang too wet for thief-persual Fastened to these sticky strings of evolution I am like a library orphan abducted by the clutches of backdates from the neon lobbies of renewal
How did I miss this one, I think that's when I had closed my account for a short while? As per your usual brilliance, the imagery here is off the charts bat shyte crazy good. A 'wet blanket of habit'...lots of wet gooey sticky stuff going on in a poem about writer's block, can't imagine what you were thinking when you pen'd this genius write, just saying yout geography was sublime. ;-) Love it.

Should I settle for a role

Aah...writers block. I have felt the pain and understand the frenzy involved in trying to hard. I find that sometimes I just need to step away for a while and let the words come; unfortunately, they usually decide to grace me with their prescense while I'm doing something like driving in the car and then when I get home they are lost in the ether.
You have painted a picture with this one. THe imagery was fantastic, and the emotions are well recieved. Good flow, nice wording, and you really touched me with the emotion. Well done!

Haha Me too! Why do poets always think best in the car or late at night?
You remind me of a guy I used to know who could maintain a tirade of abuse to a someone who beat him to a parking place long enough to draw applause....without ever using even the hint of a swearword! That you can wax this eloquently about nothing beats Bill into a cocked hat, Steve! P.

No muse is needed for a brilliant mind such as yours my sweet friend!
You are the MUSE.
Your eyes, your thoughts, your Soul, what lies within your heart, the dreams you had, have, are having...
The immense talent of revealing what thoughts arise giving greater meaning to mere words...
Breathe them out, continue to spill forth the ink of diverse thought, open tracks of a train never derailed only redirected unto a path which leads you, always to You....

I get that stomach fluttery, nervous jittery, panicky tapping feeling when I can't write something...anything. This feels like that feeling I get! Shepherd of this ivory prairie is so good. I picture you in the shepherds gear and cane, roaming vast whiteness. Another amazing visual just like your stone pompadour. Words I wish I had thought of, Steve! Angi~

I like the line 'I am like a library orphan', trying to find the right words is like chasing a memory, which I always imagine to be a cat that runs away faster and faster into the woods. Thank-you for adding to the group 'Poems about Poetry'.

Very true, sometimes I wonder if I'll ever find the cat...glad you like it^^
Gosh this is just so powerful and immediately relateable, with some amazing imagery.
Just reading it puts me back in the panicky hopeless state of mind that is the experience of writer's block

Interesting, witty, and persuasive in its own right. Another notch under your poetic belt. Great job. All parts with this poem commit to the overall theme. Great job again. :)

We visited this amazing spot two years ago. An inspirational place for poetry. The photo is so small, I can't tell for sure, but for sure the spot in your pic is fodder for poets.
My first book is out! Any comments that anyone may have to offer regarding my work would be deeply appreciated, as I'm yet to get a review.
