VALLEY OF THE OTHER KINGS

VALLEY OF THE OTHER KINGS

A Poem by kublakhan27

I.

Continuity
your filibuster egg of sand
dazzled curiosity
with creaky shell of hints
heaped upon the tedium
of knowledge's unfurl undeterred
by encyclopedic impatience

Assurances of rip(Van Winkl)ed
economics shooed paper strings of
revelation like anarchy-powered
taxes summoning a foreword
to anachronistic campaigns
of environmental friendliness

II.

Meanwhile years
have been filed down to flashes of
chronology for continuity's organic rebus

However long it took
the economic karma to fall into the
abodes of hedonistic pharaohs
it was instant

Skin that ruled behind the constitution
of allergic breath
bailed on the bones against their most
sublime intentions

Limbo-treading landlords
huddled in their mummified freeze
after breadline bashers scolded them
with the spoils of a new brand
of pyramid scheming

Robbers of the coffin palaces
stole the intimations of identity
theft from today

Immortality and freedom
were compelled to share a meaning
like estranged siblings
or bound dynasties

I(a).

Abydos
how you coyly toyed with us
with a diversion bordering on monolithic

Thanks so much my friend, so glad you enjoyed it :)
Greed....power...politics...all seem to be woven into this piece. The world has a way of forgetting the pain of the past. Especially when it is the average mans suffering. We always loop back to the same mistakes over and over at the expense of who truly builds our nations. Your writing always makes me think deeper and longer....;-)

Yep, that about covers everything. It is unbelievable watching the world lose what little mind it has left and those who lead us are power angry. This excellent and sobering Kub. God help us all cause he is going to be the only one who can.

Nope running off of fumes lol...you're welcomed.
it happened then, it happens now...prosperity burns a hole in our pockets or in our leaders' pockets and we end up broke...like old kingdoms, like new kingdoms...like our state which is in such a mess...one of the old pharoahs could do just as good a job being governor as ours does.

this poem is retroactive.---

deep, and deeply embedded in modern times even with its ancient setting.

True words my friend...so glad this poem resonated with you...thank you Jacob.
Wanted to say, holy Egyptology,Benji (Frieda's name for you since I didn't see her comment and she is so gonna break my knees)... enjoyed you ancient and modern pyramid schemes.. cleaver weaving of yesterday and today.. have seen this article you mention and will now read.. Steve, have you seen any of the new Cosmos series??? It's very good and the appropriate polemical edge... you might enjoy it.

Loved those last two verses.. the coy Abydos!!!

Being predominantly an emotionally-inspired poetic writer myself, I find your writing to be most intriguing. The depth in each piece is intellectually stimulating and I find myself most fortunate to continuously experience enlightenment with every read of your work. I hope one day to be further along in my capability as a writer to encapsulate, as you do, such an extensive plethora of muses. Spectacular write!

You're spot-on my friend...so glad you enjoyed it, many thanks.
And still we build edifices on the backs of men and wonder why the wage they are not paid is not enough. There is no immortality for those who build their monoliths in the blood and tears of the poor. I think they currently reside on Wall Street and their god of worship is money but there is no afterlife for raping the public. I felt the ancient setting was a template for the worship that has befallen this country and the workers mere slaves who survive at the largess of the FILTHY rich. I love history.
