Hang on till the sun wipes your teary wings dry
Heaven will hold you in magnetic grip
The prayers of the souls you've touched
will ring through the conscience of the atmosphere
insuring faith in all dimensions

Your grounded lover sleeping
sends his dreams to you
and will not leave the ground below you

His slumber like your wings is wet
forbidding him to fly to you
but through the screen of his disturbed sleep
his lonely voice calls

An old chestnut from 2000...I did have a longer, revised version of this, but sure enough I can't find it, so here's the original, untouched.

Decided to do some "digging" for treasure and look what I found... let me start off by saying... I LOVE THIS SONG... lot of memories attached to this one.. fitting sir...

now, on to this poem... I am partial to "angels" anyways.. my gran used to call me her little "angel"... ughhh makes me tear up thinking about it.. jeeez I am an emotional mess, I apologize...

this is so bittersweet.. it touches me deeply.... the imagery and emotion in this piece are POWERFUL... how the heck did I miss THIS one... seriously.. it is amazing.. you are gonna have to whop me upside the head a few times if necessary... email em to me, message me, RR me, something!! jeez... let this thing sit here and didn't mention it... shame on you!! I am loving this piece... fingers crossed it lets me save it in favorites.. stupid site... grrrrr.

Where do I begin my friend? I love the song as well, even though the memories attached to it for me are not so great...but yes, still a great song...

Angels are all over my poetry...in fact I just finished one where an angel figures quite prominently...I never feel good about overloading people with RRs but there are other like pieces that I'll pass along when the circumstances are hopefully more favourable...

This is another oldie as you probably noticed...I guess I just don't have as much faith in the old ones, though it's driving me batty that I can't find the revised version...I do prefer it very much to this one and I did go into greater depth with it...but I'm happy knowing that this one spoke to you...I do appreciate the time you've devoted to my stuff April, I can't stress that enough...if I realized that this one would resonate with you as it did, I assure you I would have told you about it earlier ;) Thank you again, and again I reiterate that I'm thinking of you and hoping for the best ((big hugs))

Such a beautiful piece....
The grounded lover.
I can almost imagine a couple in bed together, one sleeping while the other watches loving, maybe touching a cheek, planting a soft kiss, whisper sweet little nuthin's. All the things that sweet dreams are made of.
(Ok, I know it was angels but my angel has arms, not wings). :-)

Holding on when the going gets almost unbearable is a challenge many are unable to meet.......it is these moments when someone who understands is there to help overcome the pain and suffering that is felt. Your words are very touching and comforting to those in need of such a friend!!

Thanks so much Sheila...looking back on this one, it's hard to believe that I wrote it fourteen years ago...it almost feels prophetic to me now in some ways...it is a challenge on many days, no doubt about that, but I'm fortunate to have a small group of people I can lean on, not many, but enough...glad you enjoyed this one my friend :)
