My few friends

evidently

have more friends than me

It's like

a disclaimer

handcuffing relevance

Sensitivity

swallows me

I'll never inhale

that universal air

I am sorry

I am not more grateful

for the gift shop

I'm a ship in a bottle

on the shelf of

words withheld

Immensely appropriate title. I cannot express with words the extent to which I relate to this poem. Perhaps I must recommend a couple I've penned down myself - perhaps poetry is my instrument of expression. Although the poem in its entirety speaks perfection, the second and final stanza shine within the bubble of perfection. Amazing work. Thanks for the share.

So glad you enjoyed it Brittany, thank you for the kind words :)
This piece took my breath away. I feel that way sometimes, like I have few friends compared to the people I am friends with. I guess we all get lonely sometimes. I love when I can relate to a poem, and I can relate to this one!

Like everyone here, I've been just a statistical minority among the many... The impression I have from reading this is is that you aren't just a number, you yearn for what those friends of yours have... More ears to listen... Being that the subject matter is very relatable, you do a good job of describing the effects of being sort of lonely... It might sound as though the speaker is envious of those friends who have lots of other friends too... Well done, K.

Thank you Ance, that means a lot :)
Quality is much preferable to quantity and this fine piece of poetic introspection has quality throughout!

A clever piece of character analysis, splendid indeed!

Excuse me, could you move over a bit, yes it's me, the shot glass with the picture of the Grand Canyon on it, this shelf isn't that big. This was great Kublkhan27. I know this feeling. I enjoyed reading this today.
