April

April

A Poem by Phillip Brown
"

Presenting National Poetry Month

"
I'm just like you and countless others;
I never took April seriously.
Until this year.
I'd had plenty of warning "
There was my wife's annual humiliation
(of me) on the very first day of the month,
there were vague whisperings, from the periphery, of
National Soft Pretzel Month and the rather more ominous
National Heavy Artillery Month, but nothing,
Let's face it, carries the weight, the history, and
the je ne c'est quoi
Of National Poetry Month.
What a Fool I've Been.
(No pun intended; but only if there was one.)

This was a fun and hometown sort of read. --- Thanks for the fun.

That was funny. I was hoping you were going to expand on that theme. Might be an epic amount of months in every month. Your wit is showing again...

Thanks, Bill. I'll offer some opinions as I get more involved.
A humorous informative reminder to all poets here. The world needs more poets and less lawyers. Ok I kid a bit. Or do I? Thank you Phillip for this important message.
