Blue Shoes

Blue Shoes

A Poem by lindsay

A little boy,Johnny, plays amongst the grass of dew
as he runs towards his old man.
The innocent little boy can barely stand
as he wears his blue shoes.

His papa opens his arms
to his small blessed child.
He picks him up and spins him wild
and Johnny laughs with his boyish charms.

His father remembers the joy
and running with the crew
all when he was just a boy.

Memories of the freshly new,
cut grass-as his sat with his toy.
All awhile in his blue shoes.

I like it. It's more of a narrative than you usually do, and who doesn't love a good story.
It's all in all pretty simple, but I think therein lies the beauty. Both wore the blue shoes in innocence. It appears not only to be an old man reflecting on his youth, but a young boy - just as he runs towards his old man - moving forward into adulthood. A great piece.
